👁️🗨️ Denied by DMT, Guided by AI
This week’s trip: fast-acting molecules, closed doors in hyperspace, and the strange comfort of pouring your soul out to a chatbot.

👋 Welcome
Hey friends!
If you're in the States like us, we hope you had an enjoyable holiday weekend - quiet moments, loud skies, or whatever your nervous system needed.
This week we’re diving into fast-acting 5-MeO therapy, being benched by hyperspace entities, and the rise of AI trip sitters.
Also on deck: MDMA for narcissism, the Czech Republic’s psychedelic shift, and one man’s decision to walk away from the DMT molecule - because the message was loud and clear.
Let’s get into it.

🌈 Main Features
1. ❌ Denied Entrance to the DMT Realm
Ever hit DMT and... nothing? No breakthrough, no fractals. Just you, the sound of your own breathing, and an overwhelming sense that the door is closed.
Dennis McKenna and Andrew Gallimore unpacked this strange phenomenon in a clip we posted, and it instantly ignited one of our most passionate comment threads ever. Dozens of psychonauts shared eerily similar stories: the medicine was taken, the setting was right - and yet they were met with rejection.
The discussion quickly turned into a digital campfire of theories. Some reported seeing entities who communicated clear messages:
“You’re abusing the medicine.”
“You need to quit your addictions.”
“You’re not ready yet.”
One commenter described being met by a group of tall, glowing beings who told them to stop using DMT until they cleaned up their diet and quit caffeine. They vanished as quickly as they arrived - and the user was stone-cold sober within seconds.
Others spoke of emotional and spiritual blockages - unprocessed grief, dishonesty with oneself, or unresolved relationships - as reasons for being kept out. One person described it as:
“The club is full. We have other souls that need repair right now.”
And then there are those who’ve tried again and again—adjusting dose, setting, intention—only to receive the same psychic stiff-arm. Even very large doses only resulted in mild visuals.
Clinical trials are seeing it too. Some participants in trials were blocked from entering, often by what’s described as an entity or some form of intelligence separate from the user. There was no shot at a “break through,” despite the same doses and protocols that send others into full hyperspace. Why? That’s the thing - there’s not a definitive answer.
Possibly ego resistance in some way? Neurochemistry? A spiritual timeout?
We can sit around and theorize all day, but at the end of it, we simply don’t know have a solid answer as to why this happens.
And maybe that’s the most honest answer we can offer right now: it’s a mystery. And like all real mysteries, it doesn’t unfold on demand.
(If you’ve had a similar experience and are comfortable telling your story, reply to this email - I’d love to hear from you!)

2. 🤖 AI Is Your New Trip Sitter
Let’s be honest - it was inevitable. Some people are now turning to chatbots for psychedelic guidance and companionship. In a recent WIRED piece, Mattha Busby profiles a growing wave of users turning to chatbots like ChatGPT and apps like Alterd for guidance, reflection, and real-time reassurance.
Trey, a 36-year-old first responder recovering from alcoholism, credits an AI journaling app with helping him stay sober after a 700-microgram LSD journey (that’s a super hefty dose). “It’s like your best friend,” he says.
Meanwhile, Peter, a Canadian coder, used ChatGPT to plan a heroic dose mushroom trip - getting help with set, setting, and even a custom playlist. During the peak, he envisioned ChatGPT as a glowing blue light guiding him through the experience.
Companies like Mindbloom are formalizing this trend, building AI copilots that offer integration insights, emotional reflections, and even trip-inspired art. Advocates say AI can help democratize access to mental health tools. But critics warn of hallucinated advice, emotional detachment, and dependence on machines that can’t co-regulate nervous systems during a crisis.

💡 A Look Into the Future
Speaking of not getting into the DMT realm - Batuhan Bintas was told, flat out, not to come back.
While participating as a volunteer in Imperial College’s landmark DMT trials in 2016, he described how 'the realm itself' told him he had taken enough - and that it was time to stay grounded and focus on his work in the material world.”
He listened - and didn’t return.
I’ll be chatting with him about his time in the trials, plus the treasure chest of other psychedelic projects and research he’s now focused on.
If you’re curious what it’s like to be a volunteer in a clinical trial for one of the most reality-shattering compounds ever explored, you’ll thoroughly enjoy this one.
